WHAT WE DO

DEAN specialises in the processing of high-quality lambskins,

destined for the Luxury supply chain, in the Footwear and Leather Goods sectors. A process characterised by the careful selection of the best raw materials, exclusively from a certified supply chain, and the tenacious search for the final result, by virtue of constant experimentation.

The DEAN tanning industry processes only the highest quality lambskin,

Tanning makes the leather rot-proof, waterproof, breathable and durable. Impacts on the environment are minimised through appropriate abatement systems and emission controls.

Processing

RETANNING AND DYEING

The tanning process produces the first stabilisation of the leather: the so-called Wet Blue, blue-coloured wet hides ready for further processing.

DRYING

With dyeing, the hides absorb a lot of water, which is removed by preliminary pressing and then by suspension drying in a well-ventilated environment.

PALISSONATURA

Processing stage of the leather aimed at stretching its fibrous structure, made rigid by drying, to improve its elasticity and softness.

REFINING

Mechanical and chemical treatment of the leather surface until the desired, long-lasting colour, hand, gloss and appearance are obtained.

QUALITY CONTROL AND SELECTION

DEAN quality control is structured in two steps, one visual and one mechanical.

In addition to the classical processes, we are constantly evolving to ensure the most advanced performance and, at the same time, the lowest environmental impact.

Sustainability

Sustainability for us is not a market requirement, but a design attitude.

Dean works tirelessly to cut water and energy consumption, to reduce production impacts and emissions. We are proudly aware, on the other hand, that the tannery plays a crucial role in the recovery and valorisation of food waste, otherwise destined for landfill. There is no sector more sustainable than ours. We believe that producing durable goods in a sustainable manner is a tangible contribution to building a circular economy and an ethical response to the spread of fast fashion'.
